PIANO & KEYBOARD INSTRUCTION

Whether beginning piano lessons for the first time at age seven or sixty-seven, returning to the instrument after many years away, or seeking to expand existing musical skills, Garth Olson provides thoughtful, knowledgeable instruction tailored to each student’s goals, interests, experience, and learning style.

With more than 30 years of experience as a pianist, keyboardist, composer, arranger, conductor, and worship musician, Garth brings a broad and practical understanding of music to his teaching. His approach combines strong technical foundations with musical expression, creativity, and the enjoyment of making music. Students are encouraged not only to develop proficiency at the keyboard, but also to deepen their understanding of how music works and to grow in confidence as independent musicians.

Garth’s experience spans acoustic piano, electronic keyboards and synthesizers, accompaniment, ensemble performance, composition, arranging, music theory, ear training, and music technology. This wide-ranging background allows instruction to be shaped around the individual student—whether the goal is classical repertoire, hymnody and sacred music, contemporary styles, creative keyboard skills, composition, or simply the personal enjoyment of playing.
